Pears Baked In Wine: Ingredients: 4 almost ripe pears, bosc are best or bartletts, leave stem on, but peel them. 4 cloves 2 cups red wine 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup water Put one clove into the bottom end of each pear. Stand them in a deep casserole, on to which a lid can be fitted. If you haven't a dish deep enough, lay pears on their sides. Mix the wine, sugar and water together and pour the mixture into the casserole. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes Test, after 30 minutes, and if they are almost tender uncover and cook for another 15 minutes. If still firm, baste and cover and cook a little longer. Serve hot or cold with cream or ice cream
